Review of Paediatric Emergency Department
21st December 2018

The care we received on the evening/night of the 20/12/2018 was fantastic. We were seen within a timely manager and each professional whether that be a nurse or doctor was professional yet very friendly and informative. The treated my baby son with care and dignity and I appreciated the way the interacted with him even though he is only 6 months. This put both me and his father at ease! I unfortunately didnt catch the name of the doctor who saw us but he was very good and shows what the nhs is truly all about. Thank you for all your hard work and making us feel confident when leaving the department.

Review of Ward 15 written by a patient
13th December 2018

Super friendly welcoming and caring staff at all levels from domestic team to consultant. Given no information when I arrived on the ward or later (I was there 8 days). Nothing about meal times, choosing food, toilet locations, hospital facilities (shop, chapel, restaurant, etc.), visiting times, Hospicom, etc. Food generally good, but the meals for those with allergies were pretty awful. Super salads, especially ham salad. Despite advising I was lactose intolerant and therefore avoid most dairy products I was faced with no soya milk available on 3 mornings and could not have cereals.

Review of Ward 21 written by a patient
30th November 2018

Good afternoon, I wanted to express my sincere thanks to the staff on ward 21 (male) at Milton Keynes University Hospital for the phenomenal care and support I received during my five days on the ward. From the Doctor's, nurses, care staff, domestics and any other role I have not mentioned, the care was truly first class and the NHS should be rightly proud of every single member of staff that they employ, particularly on ward 21. This includes both day and night time staff. Nothing was ever too much trouble and the levels of professionalism I received was second to none. I have never been admitted into hospital in my forty seven years and the care I received went above and beyond what I expected. I am truly proud of the NHS in this country and my admiration and respect for ALL the staff went far beyond what I already thought of our hospital service. I always felt that I was in very excellent hands. The staff always had a smile on their faces and went out of their way to ensure that I was comfortable, fed and watered and that the amazing staff always made sure that I was well cared for. I received a first class service and i was genuinely sad to day goodbye to everybody. Even to the point where two of the night staff who were finishing to go onto their rest days, went out of their way to say goodbye to me, knowing that I was to be discharged before their return. Please pass on my most humble thanks to the amazing staff on ward 21. Thank you, Paul Scott

I wanted to congratulate the Trust on a great service which I was unable to identify on the website. You have a service called the acute oncology service which is part of the cancer team. I cannot tell you how reassuring it is to speak to a specialist oncology nurse that understands your diagnosis & treatment when you are feeling frightened & unwell. I rang as I was worried my sister had an infection starting. I was asked lots of questions about how my sister was feeling , temperature etc and we were directed to A&E which was of concern but we were reassured. Well I couldn't have been more surprised, the Doctors & nurses saw & treated my sister very quickly as her immune system was low and then the same Acute Oncology specialist nurse came to see my sister. She checked on all the results and information and prescribed some treatment to improve my Sisters immune system. She was so knowledgeable we were instantly reassured. She advised the Drs & nurses & said that the team would follow up my sister on the ward. My Sister was quickly moved to ward 22. What a lovely friendly team of nurses, and the care & compassion was clearly genuine. We were amazed when the following day when a doctor and Oncology specify nurse came to see my sister as we were promised. We are so impressed by this service for cancer patients & felt we should send our thanks and praises to all areas involved in my sister care, especially at such trying times when your resources are stretched. Well done Milton Keynes Hospital & Staff.

Review of Labour Ward written by a patient
27th November 2018

From start to finish my service at the maternity wards was outstanding. Going through the two day labour I experienced was an experience that could have gone two ways and I truly feel it was the staff on the wards that made it as good an experience as it could have been. I am so great full for their care, especially mark the first midwife I had and Megan the second. Megan took me through the last part with such care and respect, she is a great asset to the team. I would also like to thank the staff in the theatre ward, especially the surgeon who did everything she could to let me have a natural birth and not c section. I would strongly recommend MK hospital to anyone expecting a baby. Vicki Hopkins

Review of Xray & Ultrasound Department written by a patient

I was so impressed by the whole outpatient xray system. Referral was instant, the drop in system worked brilliantly and the staff were brisk but friendly. Please roll this type of test protocol out to other departments!

Review of Emergency Department written by a patient
12th November 2018

My problem lies with the crisis team. After a 4 hour wait I was finally met by a women who roled her eyes and sighed once she saw me. When in a private room her body language and tone of voice made it very clear she did not want to be there. I was already very agitated and upset and the aggressive, defensive and condescending tone did not do anything to help. Instead the whole experience made me feel a lot worse about myself. She told me that no one could help me if I didn't know why I was feeling as bad as I was. Unfortunatly this wasn't the only experience like this that I have had with the team, back in January I was told by a member that the abuse I had faced in my life was my fault. There are a few members of staff that do listen and help but unfortunatly the majority are insensitive, aggressive and lack any empathy. The experiences I've had with team put me off ever seeking help when I am in a crisis.

I would to thank all the staff which looked after my daughter Chloe. I thought all the nurses and doctors who looked after her were brilliant. The staff were very caring and listened and were able to answer questions.

Review of Ward 20 written by a patient
4th November 2018

Ward was clean, well organised and managed. Staff were available, positive, helpful and responsive to patients and not huddled at staff meetings or on desktop computers. They offered a very balanced support which ensured patient safety, comfort and well-being whilst enabling their independence. Food was acceptable but coffee could be improved!
